A Brief history:

In 1966 Pastor John F. and Wilena Cowen along with other family members and families moved into the Parowan valley to establish Assembly of Jesus Christ a non-denominational, evangelical church.  Worship was initially held at homes.  For a period of time 20 East 100 North in Parowan was rented as a place to worship.  Soon Pastor John bought an old chicken coop and building located at 133 East 300 South in Parowan.  He renovated the two-story building into a manufacturing business on the ground floor, and a church on the upper floor.   As years went on the little church grew in numbers.  In 1977 the property at 845 West 200 South in Parowan was donated to build a new church building.  At some point in the mid 1980's Pastor John bought the property just southeast of the current church with thoughts of further expansion.

In 1972 Pastor Dan and Sharon Cowen and their family moved to the area, and he came on as Associate Pastor.  In 1987 Associate Pastor Dan Cowen became Senior Pastor Dan Cowen.  Through Pastor Dan's tenure the church continued growing. He added two properties to the church: one in 1987 to extend the parking lot west of the current church building, and the second in 1992 was the house we call the Gathering Place that is approximately 300'+ directly south of the 1977 church building.

In December 1994 Pastor Rob and Jana Bernhardi and Jayden (2 weeks old at the time) moved back to Parowan to take on the Associate Pastor responsibilities.  They worked with the Youth and wherever else they were needed.  In 2018 Associate Pastor Rob Bernhardi became Senior Pastor Rob Bernhardi.  Pastor Dan and Pastor Rob had switched places.  Pastor Rob and Jana have God given plans and direction that continues to meet the needs of the community, both church and the Parowan Valley and beyond, and strengthen the Body of Christ in this area and around the globe.
